I'm interested in the smaller or bigger one and have quite a large garden. I need to be able to constantly add kitchen waste and need it to be a tumbler, is this a good one?

O.K. I got my composter delivered, I put in shredded paper and kitchen refuse. I also bought some steer manure since it will be a while before I can put grass clippings in. Shall I put the whole bag of manure in or just part? We have tons of Junipers. Would I be right NOT to put coffee grounds in

I have lookd up composters/mulchers and see prices up to $500. All I want is something large - metal or plastic is fine size of my large indoor kitchen garbage can) that I can put food compost in twice a week or so (from my little container by sink) and then re-secure the latches (so animals couldn't get in it). . I would keep it outdoors so it can 'smell'. I would add leaves etc. once in awhilke. This barrel should be strong enough so that every so often I could just just kick it around and roll it to mix up the compost. And it should be so cheap that I can order 3, and let the old ones age to readiness. Does anyone know of a product like that? I can't find on the internet.

I know you can buy these worm composter in Bunnings Warehouse, but I would like to make my own. I heard that these composter gives your garden a very good organic liquid fertisliser and also gets rid of your kitchen waste too. Anyone have make one?

We have ordered this composter because it was listed in the top 5-10 reviews When it arrives should we srtart putting stuff in it or wait until it's warmer. We have shredded paper and kitchen stuff right now but will have to wait for neighbors to mow lawn for clippings. In the spring I am going to be digging a square-shaped hole, and filling it with new soil and kitchen scrapings etc. The soil that I will dig up will be going into my composter. The only problem is i have a lot of little pebbles and other unwanted objects that I dont want to be in the composter. So how do i make a soil sifter?

manure and when i clean my rabbits hutch I use the straw, the problem is... when I add water to it it goes ransid and if I don't add water it doesn't rot down, what amount of water and how often should i add water, i know the compost it produces should have a nice earthy smell and not a rotten sour smell, thanks Hi K B and thanks, it's been on the go since last July, I live in southern spain and it's in a south facing position, about last October I emptied it out and gave it a good mix up, thats when I noticed the bad smell, I will check out the link, thanks again

I have read a great deal about old farming and field style compost piles from "back in the day" & they all suggest manure & all Kitchen scraps. Why is it unpopular to use these items today? We do have a large family. Myself, Hubby, my nephew & my 6 children! LOL The dog is FAT! He actually gets full to the point of turning his giant nose up at roasted chicken skin! So just as I suspected the popular reason for Not using meat scraps boils down to: "but that's icky" which IMO is just naive & silly. My great grandmother had a small pit between four red plum trees. Into it went chicken feet, guts, Fresh manure, & saw dust. You cant tell me there wasn't some E-Coli in that pit. But those plums were the biggest, most beautiful, sweet red plums EVER. Keep these answers coming though! Just don't answer with "because eeeww".
