There are a lot of really big, old oak trees on my property. I live in a sort of low area, and it always gets colder where I live than anywhere else. Well, we got a big frost recently. In my area, some of the budding oak trees' buds were severely damaged, and now they are way behind the oaks in other areas--in fact, some have barely even started to get new leaves. How long will it be before they get green again?

Every other house I had I did Honey colored Oak but this time with med. color oak what do you think. I was afraid of too much oak grain. Cabinet guy says no one is doing oak anymore and all cherry or maple. What do you think? Counters too? All my wood furniture is a golden honey colored oak so should I stick with oak cabinets too. My first choice is a natural cherry with chocolate glaze but afraid of it darkening. The kitchen I just tore out was dark walnut stained oak so I want a big brighter difference.

Our foyer, hallway, & dining room have oak baseboards and oak trim around the doors and the door frames. The problem is the house is an open design so the hallway goes into the kitchen and family room, sharing one of the walls. The baseboards and trim in the kitchen and family room are white. I want to keep the white baseboards in those rooms but I like the oak in the other rooms. Would white baseboards look OK butting up against oak door frames? If not, is there a way to make a smoother color transition on the shared hallway wall where oak goes into the kichen corner where the trim is white? If I paint the trim around the door, would it look OK to leave just the door frames/jamb oak? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. I'm going to be putting in a new floor and when I put baseboards back up I want to do it right the first time.

I was out hiking in Southern Ontario when found an oak tree that had two very different shaped leaves growing on it. I have never seen this before and have not been able to find much if any information on Google. Wondering if anyone else has seen this and if you know what causes it to happen?

I just found and bought a light oak furniture set for the babies room. I was planning on dark cherry, and I had an entire room picked out (brown and aqua). When the price of the light oak set was too good to turn down, I bought that instead. Now my whole room has to change, and I'm panicking. I always get dark furniture, now I have really light furniture with a yellow tone (not my strong suit). What wall colors would make me love this nursery again? Help!

I recently purchased a high end house with the standard but old and somewhat outdated "golden oak" kitchen cabinets. I want to change the color to a bleached oak (light/white) look but don't really want to attempt sanding to bare wood in fear of rounding off all of the detail. How can I do this with strippers and bleach before I restain to the light color I want?

Ok so I have this oak tree I planted in a pot this spring. It is about 5 inches tall now and has 5 leaves. I have fertilized it and watered it the whole summer, but it doesn't grow bigger neither height-wise, nor width-wise. What can I do to make it grow faster. Because this years oak saplings in the forest are already much bigger then mine.
