how best can I use floor lamps to light living room and bedroom with no ceiling lamp?
I am moving into an older apartment and there are no ceiling lamps in the bedroom and living room. I bought a floor lamp from Walmart and 75W 'daylight' energy saving bulb from Home Depot. I find the lighting dull and not good enough to read with-I'm a student. This is really bothering me, how best can I light the rooms using lamps and have adequate light in them? I want them well illuminated and don't want to ruin my eyes either.

We are renting a home that has NO overhead lighting! Any suggestions other than floor/table lamps?
There are hooks where they have some circa 1970 plug in "chandeliers" but they are terrible. Wondering if there were other plug in overhead options. Table and floor lamps strain my eyes. Thoughts on track lighting????
What is the purpose of a table lamp and floor lamps?
By purpose i mean like what is does, how the way it should be used effects the height it should be made at. (for both table and floor lamps)
so for example is it that a table lamp shouldn't be very tall as they are only used to see certain areas whereas a floor lamp is much higher because the light needs to spread out across further. - Is that right?
